Hyundai says it will build $5.8 billion steel mill in Louisiana
Applications have been sought to form a new strategic planning committee for the City of Donaldsonville.
City officials are looking for innovative thinkers to assist in spearheading programs and development as new industry has been planned along the west bank of the Mississippi River.
The proposed $5.8 billion Hyundai steel plant, among other projects, is expected to create thousands of jobs and spur economic growth in the area.

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - “We love it here, grew up here, met my fiancée here, he’s from Donaldsonville,” said one Donaldsonville woman while enjoying her Lunch at a local eatery in town.
It might be a small town, but it’s chock-full of passion for the community.

Gonzales Weekly Citizen - During the March 25 council meeting, Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan told members that River Parishes Community College plans to open a campus on the west side of Ascension Parish to address the workforce needs of the planned Hyundai steel plant. President Donald Trump, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and several elected officials celebrated the announcement of the first-of-its-kind $5.8 billion project along the west side of the Mississippi River.
MONEYWATCH - South Korean auto giant Hyundai on Monday announced a multibillion-dollar investment in the U.S., including a new $5.8 billion steel plant.
The plant, which will be based in Louisiana, will create 1,300 jobs in the U.S., Hyundai executive chairman Euisun Chung told reporters at a White House event alongside President Trump.
